There is a great big weed -- @9 feet high -- in the semi-abandoned yard off my kitchen. I've been watching it grow like Jack's beanstalk and now it has flowered. Is this some form of tobacco? There is a baby one at its feet. The other leaves are hoja santa/Piper auritum ~ How the leaves are arranged on the somewhat fuzzy stem ~ Two views of the flowers ~

Looks like a big Nicotiana.

Looks just like the tobacco plants my neighbor in Anghiari grows for cigars, it's quite a pretty plant. I don't think it's an ornamental Nicotiana however.

My first impression was tobacco plant as well. Clearly in that plant family.

Definitely a nicotiana. I enjoy growing the white ones which emit a lovely aroma. The seeds are teensy weensy so when one bloom busts open, a lot of volunteers will germinate.

Thanks to all who corroborated my guess. There will be surely be more, as I have no intention of getting on a ladder in order to deadhead the thing. It reminds me of a great big man wearing a little bitty hat.
