Lovely pictures Deyana. Even so, photos don't really reflect the beauty of the English countryside in spring. So many shades of green.
I know Winchester well - both my children were born there.

Oh you make me SO envious Deyana! All I want to do is hop on a plane and spend the entire spring and summer in England ( with a hop across to Paris!). I love the photos - especially the one with the old disused railway line.

Thank you, mick and tod. I was very lucky in that I had sunny days nearly every day I was there, which is quite unusual I think. I left Canada in sub zero temperatures with many feet of snow on the ground, but as soon as I landed in England I had to take all my winter stuff off as it was 10 above there, and 21 above when I left!
mick, Winchester is a lovely place to be born in, every turn there is breathtaking scenery.

I think you showed Ramsgate in another posting Deyana. I know that very well too - my father and his family all came from there. Up until my father they were all North Sea fishermen.

You must be from the Kent area then, mick? I liked Ramsgate a lot, a lovely sea-side town. The friend who went with me that day has been there many times, it's one of her most favorite places to be. Dover was the big surprise for me. Truly beautiful and the castle on the hill was something to see. I will be making a separate thread about sea-side areas later on today.

No - I was born in London.
Ramsgate is getting better. It was somewhat run down a few years ago. If you are there again go along to Broadstairs which has not changed since Victorian times (they aren't allowed to). I have a number of 19th century photos of Broadstairs and you can recognise all the buildings then as they are now.

It's so nice to see such wonderful pictures of my town We had great weather, didn't we? You certainly travelled far and wide when you were in England, Deyana.

Once again, I like the variety of all of the views which gives a great impression on all of the different (lovely) things that one can see during a day. I notice that except for the Buckingham Palace photo, your England is just as empty as FMT's France.

Kerouac, you're so funny! I worry about taking photos of people, in case they don't like it, so tend to stay away from doing so. However, I do have in mind to make a photo essay of my day in London, and that has lots of pics of people in it. Thanks Spindrift and Bixa. Spin, I did pack a lot in while I was there, but I had a good time. mick, it would so interesting to see those photos you have of Broadstairs. At one time or another I have probably been to most of the coastal towns, some I'm sure I did as school trips. Dover Castle, and Brighton I do remember seeing as a kid with my school.

Lovely photos Deyana. I love the new Forest, and that cottage would suit me right down to the ground! ;D
