Reims is celebrating the 800th anniversary of its cathedral this year. I have taken a few photos of the light show. I hope you will appreciate them.

Geeeeeeez!!!
That is monumentally, brilliantly beautiful. It's pretty indescribable, too, so HUGE thanks for the pictures.
How often do the light images change? Were you knocked out when you first saw it?
That one of the cathedral being built -- whew!

Really amazing. The pictures of the "scaffolding" really make the unimaginable ("How did they do that 800 years ago?") almost imaginable.

Amazing. We all seem to be most impressed by the same picture -- that of the cathedral builders.

Really impressive. How does Reims cathedral rank in age compared to the others?

The cathedral of Reims was built after Notre-dame de Paris but it is older than the cathedrals of Strasbourg, Beauvais and Amiens. "How often do the light images change?" "That one of the cathedral being built -- whew!" The show last 30 minutes. The images sometimes stay still for a few seconds but mostly it's animated. The work of the masons, carpenters.. all in motion is absolutely amazing. These photos do not do it justice. For anyone interested*, the light show will run every week-end (Fri, Sat, Sun.) until October. *It takes 45 mn from Paris to Reims with the TGV. 30 mn only from Paris CDG. Notre Dame de Reims by day:

I'm not sure how and why the French became the masters of the son et lumière concept, but they have definitely perfected it into a high art form for tourist nights. I think that the first one I ever saw as a child was at the château de Chambord, and I have never forgotten my amazement. The most recent one that I saw a couple of years ago was at the pyramids of Giza.

Oh! In the process of fighting to get my internet service back, I missed coming back to this thread to see your answer & the video, Askar. Your photo looking up at the cathedral is perfect. I would so love to see this. I went to the video's page & found another one that shows (I think) the whole sequence. The opening, with people working on the scaffolding, is really moving -- like being able to see back in time.

It's just a rehearsal. The actual show lasts about 30 minutes. Thank for your comments.

Absolutely stunning. How incredible to be able to see this in person, I cannot imagine how it can be more beautiful than what we see already, but I trust that is person it must make your breath stop, yet your eyes would not stop moving. Cheers, Mich

Reims only being 45 minutes from Paris by TGV, I'm pretty sure that I'll be seeing this myself one evening.
