I just thought this was a pleasant report about some of the charm of Rome. Sex sells. Probably pretty ordinary tourists to Rome. Restaurants with barkers outside are best avoided.

Of course... but they are designed for tourists, so no harm done.

That is how my journal notes go...Time, Place and People adding in a few more thoughts about the locale and interaction with others. I start each entry with day, date and where I stayed overnight.

I'm having a 'discussion' with someone as regards colonisaton. They've ascribed the reason some countries don't want a photo on a CV is a result of the British Empire. I've neither agreed nor disagreed just wondering how they've made that connection. They've said, "....this is exactly my field of study for decades and MAYBE I've done A LOT of research into this before, during, and after obtaining my bachelor's and two masters degrees in this very arena."
My reply is, "Why does it say in your profile - "Studied Master's in Public Administration...... Studied MBA (that's a Master of Business Administration?) ....Studied Integrated Marketing Communication " - Did I miss something that is relevant to this subject? None of that seems to be, unless I am mistaken."

They've ascribed the reason some countries don't want a photo on a CV is a result of the British Empire. I've neither agreed nor disagreed just wondering how they've made that connection. Would it be because a photograph shows ones race? Perhaps the person is thinking British Empire = colonialism = racism. The other stuff about "field of study" just sounds huffily defensive & a way of not answering.

That connection may have merit. She says that the English speaking ex-colonies are addressing the issue of racism more than many other countries and this is a part of it. I asked her about Spain who say they want a CV photo and their colonies in South America who also need one. She dismisses this as there has not been enough activism and they are backward. I mentioned Africa and places like Zambia where it as an ex-colony and is English speaking plus I expect nearly all African countries want one, but I could be wrong. She said she's 'not bothered' about Africa as she'll never work there.

Just seen her justification and that I was mistaken -
"The actual focus of those degrees. Business as it relates to minority communities. History classes in relation to these subjects. The fact that I'm one class short of both sociology and anthropology degrees because of those focuses. And do you even know what public administration is? Seriously, two years of studying These issues in a governmental compacity. And our discussion related to business practices and their legality. But it's almost cute how you think you can just end discussions. π€£π€£ I don't even have all my colleges listed on my Facebook profile, but you think you can take all you need to know about my education from there. I have jobs that I'm not even legally allowed to list on there. Literally the tiniest snapshot I can give folks into what I've done. Cute."
My reply runs along the lines of - "Yeah, I have that problem also. It's the bane of my life. In fact that Law that says you can't list a job on Facebook has sent many a person to prison for doing so. You read about it in the news all the time."

Point 5. She appears to be a USanian. That initial mention of "RS" rather gives it away (i.e., Rick Steves, travel guru to the US, if not necessarily the most expert driver>.

In France, masking is mandatory everywhere indoors or on public transport. But outdoors, I have found wide variations depending on the area of Paris. I am sorry to say that the more affluent areas are the ones that are less masked.
(I was looking for the location of my previous quote, but the webmaster there is removing posts so fast that I think it is already gone. Some of the travel sites are very Chinese in their concept of what should be mentioned on a forum.)

In my supermarkets Iβd say it was 95% masked 5% unmasked so not sure where he/she is. In my supermarket in Germany it is 100% masked. Usually with FFP2 masks but that isn't a requirement. In my supermarket in Sarajevo it is 95% unmasked now.

100% masked in France, too, or they don't let you through the door.
