A local group intends to open an eco-information place in one of the numerous empty spaces of the commercial centre. I had a short discussion with one of the project managers yesterday and he wants to have a few things growing.
Taking into account that it's indoors with very little natural light... I have already told him that peppers wouldn't be suitable as there won't be enough light. Obviously, I am no expert, but what can I suggest he plants?!
help! please?

Does he want food plants? If there is a space in front of the building where boxes or pots could be put, that would be an option that would also attract attention. If there are concerns about plants "walking", they could be brought in at night.
If there are members of the group with home gardens or allotments, it would be nice to take photos of their gardens and blow the pictures up to poster size for the walls, along with some informative and encouraging comments aimed at promoting food gardening and directing people to brochures or whatever available.
It wouldn't have to be just home food gardens, either. Pictures could also be used to promote using natives as ornamentals, bee-friendly gardening, etc.
The posters would also serve to brighten up the place & to show positive ways for individuals to make a difference in the environment.
Unless there is the money and space to have a grow-light plant &/or hydroponic display, I can't think of any food plants that don't want at least four hours of sunlight a day. Because you mentioned peppers, I'm simply assuming you want food plants & not ornamental house plants.
Let's see what others suggest.

yes, bixa... he mentioned food plants. I thought the guy would have some idea since he grows stuff himself... but aaargh! he's an idiot. really good idea about the blown up pics of gardens.
the light available will be standard shop lights so I am afraid that it'd burn the plants whilst not providing the right light. and it would be scattered around with beanbags, etc in an area where people could have a cuppa.
Your post, bixabella, has made me realise I don't want to be involved in more than suggesting which plants to have in there. anyway everything has to be moveable as the free lease of the space is only until someone wants to do something commercial with the space.
