This took place 10 days ago, and even though it was already the 10th edition, I had never paid the least bit of attention to it. It was Rikita's Berlin carnival thread (and Rikita herself!) who encouraged me to go and check it out at last. So, here are some of the things I saw. And this was before anything really started...

Although there were some professional groups present, one thing I liked was that most of the groups were clearly amateurs just there to have a good time.

I feel my life would be greatly improved with the addition of tall iridescent banners that I could move at whim.
This whole thing looks like so much fun.
The "red queen" on the right in the last pic before the video is something else!
I think my favorite pic so far is the one of the drummers in the tall green paper hats.
The video is truly outstanding, with the grass skirt dancers' moves almost hard to believe.

Fantastic Kerouac! Isn't that our Janet aka Koloagirl in some of the photos?? She did say she and her husband were due to come to Paris soon.

Fantastic photos! I love the vibrant colors. Man, the girl in the green thong sure wears her costume with confidence!
The dancers in the video are amazing. I wish I could have seen this, looks like a fun event.

Kerouac, Great photos! I'll have to go to Carnival in Paris next year. When we lived in Trinidad, I joined a "band" one year. While most of the costumes of the other bands looked like some of the skimpier ones shown here, my band was supposed to represent a desert tribe so we were well covered.

I don't know if you deliberately saved the best until last, but those last two photos are stunning, even in a thread full of excellent photography. The very last picture, with the perfectly placed sun and shadow, is about as lovely as anything I've ever seen. Kudos!

Very nice thread, Kerouac. The photos are great, but I particularly liked the video.
Today I had a parade-side window seat to Carnival Tropical de Paris 2015, which has just now ended (in my location) after almost four hours. Looking through this thread from four years ago, I recognized a few of the costumes I saw today.

I wanted to go down to see it at the end of the afternoon, but the temperature and my cold got the better of me and I just crawled home to have an iced beverage. I hope you took some photos.

Seeing it would not have helped your cold, I'm afraid. The sound toward the end was deafening as it reverberated off the buildings where I'm staying. Lots of loud drums, but certainly colorful costumes and many people having a good time. Those who could stand up to the heat anyway.
I did take a few photos and will be working to pick out those that might be presentable. I have some other related activities to report, as well, so will combine it all into a new thread at some point.
