I’m trying to grow lemons in pots and had a little success. Can anybody give me instructions. Pruning for example and should I pollinate the flowers by hand? I seem to get flowers ok but not much fruit.

The mirabelle plum harvest started just today in Lorraine, about 3 weeks late. It will be the same for grapes in most of France, which actually brings it back to the former schedule. The harvest had been earlier and earlier every year for about the last five years.

What a beautiful, healthy tree -- and bearing like mad, as well!

I am pleased to report that my Meyer lemons are burgeoning with fruit. I've had to prop up several of the branches. (Helpful hint: use old or discarded crutches, they can be placed at different angles to keep the heavy branches from breaking or the fruit close to the ground from rotting).

It's definitely the season. It was one of the greatest moments at my grandparents' garden, with a pear tree reigning over the strawberry patch, but also a beehive in one corner which was of course a bit frightening to us children.
