Thanks! I was happy with how that came out. It was taken from the window of a truck zipping west on the highway between Flagstaff and Las Vegas.

I want to do a thread on the American Southwest when I have time, but here's one photo for now. Mesa Arch, Utah.

Both photos are beautiful, and tod2 is right -- Bixa's photo does look a lot like Africa. That is a truly wonderful golden glow under the arch, nycgirl.

nycgirl - Both fantastic photos! I am crazy about rocks, and rock formations so that 'wave' of sandstone?? looks good enough to eat! The capturing of the sun just glinting through the arch is more than well-timed. It's darn well terrific! Kerouac your photo reminds me of that Irish saying "may the road rise up to meet you, May the wind be always at your back...........

Thanks Tod! Yeah, it is sandstone. They only let 20 people a day by lottery into that park, so we were lucky to be there.
Kerouac, where was yours taken? Beautiful!

That was almost certainly in Nevada, on US 50, "loneliest road in America".

[Re: OP photo]
This is so three dimensional it almost makes me dizzy. No idea why. Beautiful.

Absolutely stunning images, all of them. Why is it the most evocative landscape images are those either empty of anything or whose human focal points are dwarfed by the surround? Works that way for me anyway - reminds us that people are generally irrelevant in the scheme of things maybe? Interestingly it works the other way round with urban landscapes though..people give them meaning..

Gad, Kerouac & Cheery -- you all really trotted out amazing sets of pictures. They're all wonderful, but I absolutely adore Cheery's Wales and Kerouac's Montana.
