Oh my goodness, seeing you Online again Mossie is just like me receiving an email to let me know I am now officially a British Citizen and will receive my passport in a few hours. It is a great feeling.

On Friday I popped into town for a few bits. I caught the bus home. A passenger got very shouty at the driver. The rest of the passengers tried not to catch his eye as the madman got louder and swearier. It was quite scary. The man insisted that he had paid his £1.80 bus fare (he hadn't). The driver was very quiet and calm but the loony was storming up and down the bus, thumping the driver's screen. After the driver said that he was calling the police the chap threw some money at the driver and he started the bus.
As we carried on with our journey the man carried on ranting and swearing..telling us that he loves England, he's a british citizen, he hates muslims (the driver was Indian and probably Hindi) and proceeded to say awfully racist things..the loony was not white and had quite a thick accent but I don't know where he was from...
Anyway the ranting got very loud. I was sitting at the front of the bus with my shopping trolley...with the mad bloke standing and sitting to my right a few feet away...I was waiting for him to produce some sort of weapon because he really did sound unhinged. Against my wishes my face started crying. I was staring out of the window trying not to catch anybody's eye..no sobbing or anything but lots of tears and a trembling lower lip! Stupid!
Anyway, all of a sudden (after about 20 minutes of shouting) the man sat down and started offering around a bag of sweets. It was very odd. I managed to pull myself together and mopped up my face discretely. When I stood to get off the bus the chap grabbed my hand and kissed it. I said 'you scared me' or words to that effect...he looked at me blankly. The driver was lovely and asked me if I was ok...I told him to be careful and he said 'it happens'.
So that was last week's adventure....

That sounds horrible, Cheery. I feel sorry for the bus driver too, especially since it was obviously not the first time.

That sound awful for everyone stuck in that situation, Cheery! I have to wonder why the driver didn't put the guy off immediately, although maybe he thought that would make things worse.
Re: the crying -- not stupid, but a response your body made to an occurrence that didn't make sense. It happens to people quite often in earthquakes. They're not crying because they're specifically frightened, but their bodies are reacting to reality suddenly being thrown out of whack.

Cheery, you do have backbone and crying is not such an unusual emotion. It was upsetting and you probably felt powerless and fearful. Had it been that someone was injured would you cry? I doubt it. You'd have known what to do and felt more in control I'm sure. Crying just shows you are human and not frozen emotionally with disbelief of the situation.

Awful situation. The driver seems a nice chap offering some words of comfort to you after being abused himself.
I witnessed once a similar situation in the metro in Paris and the bloke was aggressive and clearly under drugs. You cannot talk to a guy in these situations.

I have been absent sick recently, I hope this is the rightpface for this. Just to let people know that I am on a slow road to recovery. I must give special thanks to K for the Paris postcards which cheered me up greatly, and yo others who have sent messages I will be back but in a very limiter way at first Thanks again for all your wishes Mossie, hope you will check in now and then so we aren’t worried.

My phone provider in Germany is sending everyone new SIM cards to change over to 5G and disabling their old ones. I received and fitted mine only for the network to go down the next day and still not come back up again.

The result of the above post is that it came up two days later and the company are knocking three days off the bill for next month. But there's an added wrinkle. I don't now have the facility to make a Hotspot. After a number of phone calls to them where they cut me off I did some digging and found out my phone is too old for their specifications and they advise me to buy a new one. Nope. I'll do without it as I rarely need it anyway.
Two weeks ago my dishwasher went tits up. I need a technician to come so in trying to "keep things local" I contacted three nearby firms. One said I'd have to wait a month or more and so I made an appointment with another one - but he failed to turn up twice and the third one said I'd have to ring back in "at least a week" when he knew what time he had - which could then mean another wait. I've had to contact a country wide company today who have the appointments made on the internet. Someone can come tomorrow between 11:30 and 13:30 which is good enough for me. I just now have to see if he/she does turn up and if so, can fix it.

I don't think it's an EU thing yet, but in France many products now (since 2021) have a repairability index that must be indicated on many products sold. These include clothes washers, smartphones, computers, televisions, lawnmowers, dishwashers, vacuum cleaners and high pressure cleaners. In 2025, this will become the durability factor and it will be obligatory to show it on the package. Also, the government now refunds between 15 and 60 euros of the repair costs.

I have a contract with the company that is renewable every year so nearer the end of this year I can change companies if I want to. The thought is though that this still has the best deals regarding internet which is the main factor for me because I can't even remember when I used my phone for a normal phone call or SMS. The Hotspot issue is a result of changing over to 5G which it inevitable every company will do so I'd be as bad burnt as scolded if I changed. I do and will keep my eye on the situation though but for now I'll leave it.

Today I had a meeting with an outside facilitator to mediate a " restorative session " between myself ( representing my agency) and others (from another agency)
On meeting me, he ( the facilitator) gave me a hug as I extended my hand.... the rest of our meeting went well but...,
What the hell !!!!!
Sorry I just needed to vent.
