Awwww. That little boy is going to remember that thrill forever. What a nice man to oblige him.
Also, people who can count on regular garbage pickup get no sympathy from me, only envy.

I wish we could have a reliable service the whole year round.....Soon as there are wage disputes or job hours disagreements the garbage truck and all the other staff take to the streets scattering garbage as far as they go. As this disrupts traffic and is un-hygenic, the municipality then hires privateers in trucks to do a clean-up. OK, they don't toot a horn but yesterday what did toot and toot and toot all day was the construction workers just 500m away building a new secure luxury complex. The cement trucks have a very very long arm which lets the cement being pumped reach where it has to go. Unfortunately the one end can't see the other end so the pump receivers blast a horn when they want the truck to stop pumping. Paaaarp!......wait 60sec.....paaaarp!.....wait 60sec.....and so on all day- except for the lunch break. Thank goodness for that!

Colonoscopy completed on Friday, good results, very relieved. My sister, on the same day, received her results from her CT scan from her oncologist, they see no remaining cancer after completing her chemotherapy, she will have a follow-up colonoscopy on March 1st for her surgeon to also confirm her cancer is gone.
(I posted under this topic as I searched and others had posted under this topic regarding colonoscopies)

Don't worry about it as long as you get to the bottom of it.

I've had one colonoscopy, just for prevention, and of course quite memorable since I didn't have full anesthesia and I was able to watch everything on the screen overhead.

**muses** colonoscopy? watched overhead? Are you a contortionist, K2? You saw the part about it being on a screen, I hope... After all, the camera was inside my intestines.

Thank you Lugg and htmb. I can not express how relieved I was for my sister. We talked for quite a while on Friday night and we are now looking forward to the spring so we can sit together outside and plan our mother's 80th birthday celebration later this summer.
Kerouac, I was put out. After a quick conversation with my surgeon, my anestehetist made sure I had my pillow positioned just right, told me to lay on my side as I would when going to bed at night and that is the last thing I remember until being woken by the nurses in recovery. I guess I was talking before they woke me and they asked me about my accent. I guess it is really me now. Very happy that they tell you in recovery the results so I was able to give my husband the good news when he picked me up.

Mich, what a relief your sister is healthy, and for yourself to get a clean bill of health too. Enjoy the long break till the next colonoscopy.

Thank you Bixa and Tod, you are both correct, no more wondering or waiting and what a relief!
Spoke with my younger sister today and she had her colonoscopy the day before I did! That will be all three girls in a matter of weeks of each other. Now the pressure is on for our dear brother. He had thought he had an appointment coming for one and found out his doctor ordered a prostrate check instead, he was a bit upset about the miscommunication and now having to start the process all over again.

I'm pretty sure that I lost my glasses yesterday. A thorough search of my flat has not unearthed them. I will deposit a "lost" form in the metro tomorrow but do not have any hope about that. Replacement will come with considerable expense.

Oh my, that is unfortunate Kerouac. Prescription lens are quite expensive, I recently had to get new ones. Did you have them in your coat pocket?
I never take mine off but I see people take them off to read menus etc. I can see easily how people can leave them behind.
Wishing you best of luck that someone turns the in.

Oh damn Kerouac! That is pretty bad luck and I know you feel lost without having them to hand. I was in the exact same position yesterday when after being out with Mr.Tod decided to sit in the garden and needed my sun glasses. Every single place I normally leave them drew a zero. I even searched the waste paper baskets in case I had bumped them off my bedside table or office desk - but nothing. I gave up looking for awhile until I decided to do a quick general tidy-up in the bedroom - and there the little buggar was! On the bedside table next to Mr Tods side of the bed! I was incredibly releived as they are normal glasses set for my eyes but tinted for sunglasses. They cost me R5,000 so I do have them included in our general insurance.

I have managed over the years not to break se eral pairs of goggles. So now i have 3 pairs, one that never leaves my room, one in my car, one in a drawer.
As for my traumas, my glycemia is skyrocketting. So there seems to be several possibilities - pancreas is damaged, or got cancer. If so i am potentially dead next year. Not the most plausi le scenario, but the one that must be ruled out soon. So CT scan in 2 weeks. - strange reason, must be uncovered. - pancreas went on strike and i will be on insulin soon. Net result : i am stressed. Moderately so, but still. And i hide it from the children. Until further notice. I would love to spend some time without seeing doctors, for a change.

Good grief if I lost my glasses I wouldn't be able to do anything much as my sight is awful! I hope that yours are handed in promptly Kerouc.
I got a spare pair 'free' when I got my current glasses...I never wear the spare pair as my main ones have light reactive lenses...also...for some inexplicable reason I chose round metal frames for the spare pair and they really don't suit my big chubby face...but it's good to know that I have a spair pair....

Kerouac, losing glasses is no fun. Hoping they turn up. They’re fairly new, aren’t they?

Kerouac, I hope you find the glasses. It might be in that funny/not funny way of having them turn up in a place you've already searched five times.
Whatagain, I am very distressed that you have to go through this terrible worry, especially since you're forced to hide your concerns for the time being. Why is it taking so long for you to get the CT scan?

Very upsetting news, Whatagain. I hope things go well with your diagnosis and treatment,if needed.
K2.when you find your glasses, tie a bit of string on them. It will look so disgusting you will want to put them in a pocket as soon as not needed on your nose.

Whatagain, I hope your glycemia rates have a simple fixable reason and nothing awful.
Bixa, 2 weeks is not long for an appointment for a CT scan. It's not something you get in a local GP's office.
