I love those giant thistles & it seems they and the bees are color-coordinated.

A gatekeeper on a rudbeckia bumblebee on a veronica ...and investigating a salvia...this species has a short tongue so they pierce the outside base of tubular flowers to get to the nectar

Excellent. I was sitting for several hours in a hospital garden yesterday watching the pollinators, but I didn't feel comfortable taking pictures with all of those sick people staring into space. (I was there because I had a dental appointment at 10:30 followed by another dental appointment at 14:00. Nothing happened at either one, so now I have to go back at 11:30 and 14:00 on August 31st when the flowers will have probably finished blooming.)

Lovely lugg...we've seen lots of butterflies and moths this year I have yet to photograph any of the bees in the garden this year as every time I go out there with the camera the dog rampages around catching the bees and eating them. He really is a demon destroyer....worse than the cat used to be. He killed 3 young dunnocks over 24 hours when they blundered into him...I know he's just being a Patterdale..our old dog didn't behave that way tho...

Thanks, Cheery. They were all over those blooms Tuesday, then there was only a straggler or two on Wednesday. Now they've disappeared back to their planet.

All that's important is that they have distributed their pollen in a new useful location.
