My husband and I just went through this quickly as it is a glorious day outside, one of the few left of our summer. I cannot wait to have the time tomorrow to go through it slowly and write down points that interested us. Mount Blanc will be as incredible as I have been imagining it all summer long, quite similiar to the Schilthorn in Switzerland. I am so happy you put this report together and like you I do not need all the historical points explained, I enjoyed your tourist viewpoint. Hoping to meet with you and your DW in Paris soon! Cheers, Mich
This is great, FMT. It is all very pretty and postycardy.
And all I can say is "thank God for tourists!", otherwise all those towns and villages would have been completely empty. ;D
Actually, we were in and around Annecy 4 years before you, at the same time of year (for a wedding nearby). I was surprised at the colour of the lake water and its transparency. I think we had fewer tourists though.
Lovely, lovely, lovely report. Don't listen to any who may say you include too many photos. C'est impossible. They are merely jealous of your talents. This is an area worthy of going overboard about. I think you'll find your new bike a lot easier to eat up the kilometers on under most conditions than your VTT. One of the more impressive photo essays we've seen here, thank you.
Wow, these photos are stunning! The scenery is amazing and it looks like you had perfect weather the whole time. The lake waters look very inviting. So jealous. Thank you for taking the effort to share your trip with us.

nycgirl - We did have great weather and the lake was every bit as refreshing as it looked. Have you been outside of Paris before?
annie - I've been called worse so I can live with being called bonkers. I'm guessing by your comments that you used to live in the area or at least spent a lot of time there. True?
kerouac - You can thank Mrs. FMT for the pics of the Alps. I, of course, wanted to vacation in Brittany (again) but she convinced me to go to the Alps. Good thing too since it was rainy in Brittany while we were enjoying great weather around Annecy.
FMT, I grew up a little East of Annecy, in the Swiss Alps, and then I moved to the Leman region, where I used to live between Geneva and Lausanne and work in Geneva for ten years before moving here to the UK.
Dans les grandes choses, les hommes se montrent comme il leur convient de se montrer; dans les petites, ils se montrent comme ils sont.
I had to come back and consult this fabulous report before starting my embarrassingly trite report about Annecy. I'm really glad that Frenchmystiquetour was able to spend enough time to do justice to the region, but I only had 2 days, so our duplicate photos in different seasons can be found here in "reply #6."

Thanks for your photos and text. It has helped me enormously in planning our trip to Lake Annecy. We too are into scenic areas and don't have much interests in tourist hot spots. Your trip looked fabulous.
