These are incredible. He's very talented. I wonder what one of these creations goes for? Probably a lot, since they seem very labor intensive.
Love the frog with the coin purse mouth.

Futurists have often imagined a world of robots living the way we do. But those robots will definitely want mechanical dogs and cats and all sorts of other little critters. Clockwork fish might be the biggest challenge -- how will they keep them from sinking to the bottom?

Gad ~~ I should get one of the sculptures as a prize, for managing to actually find a price on the internet! I believe this is a case of if you have to ask, etc. Anyway, if you have a quarter of a million dollars, you can own one of Martinet's frogs. Pick me up one, too, while you're at it, please. www.kaboodle.com/reviews/edouard-martinets-sculptures. Here is the man himself. This photo finally gave me a good idea of the size of these sculptures. Click on the photo to be taken to yet another gallery of his work. Be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom for a look at his workshop, then click on it to see it in detail. You can click on any of the pics on that site to see much bigger versions. ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° While searching for prices, I found this site. I want the massimal and the poster! Okay, they're not Martinet creations, but they're pretty damned cool and more affordable: hubcapcreatures.com/

Clockwork fish might be the biggest challenge -- how will they keep them from sinking to the bottom? Small air bladders at neutral buoyancy.

That's funny because the first thing I thought of when initially seeing these creations was fishing lures. A friend told me a funny story about falling for the lure of a special, sure-to-catch-fish bug lookalike. The butt end had to be loaded with baking soda. When dropped in the water, it apparently shot all over the place, making bubbles and scaring off all fish in a two mile radius.
