I apologize. I have no idea where to put this so am just plopping it down here. I think it’s very powerful.
The line "Immigrants, we get the job done," is from the play HAMILTON for those who don’t know. Not sure about the rest of the world, but the stage version will begin streaming on Disney+ in the USA starting July 3.

I don't know about the new series, but that visually looks very much like the original Snowpiercer movie. I have the DVD and it makes we want to watch it again urgently.

May we all!!! Great video clip HTMB! Very powerful. I have some friends planning on getting up at the crack of dawn to watch. Thanks for posting that. Everyone should be forced to sit down and watch that at least once,

I asked my husband sitting in the study with me - "Have you heard of Olivia de Havilland?" He replied he knew she was a past actress. Well, I said - She has just had her 103rd birthday! And look - she's riding her bike! Congratulations dear lady, you look mighty fine!

It's probably all the wine she has drunk in France since she moved there in 1953.

Me, too, casi. Melanie Wilkes in Gone With the Wind is the only character I remember her playing, though I imagine she had many roles after that.

I haven't seen our newest member Biddy on here lately. I hope she didn't get driven away by all the vitriol on here of late. Wouldn't be the first time...can't say I would blame her. One read and I would be outta here toute de suite.

I didnt follow the vitriol, was it ghe discussion about the ad mulierem arguments ? K would call it a heated debate, not vitriol personally...
And i do hate to correct people writing french but it is tout de suite.
Have a good day all.

Back on travel. Due to Covid, i drive mostly. And i dont like driving. So i went mostly to Germany and actually to Bad Wurtemberg. Sigmaringen and Nuernberg, then Bamberg, now i am in Schaebisch Hall. Superb cities and towns. Mostly medieval ones, with a lot of timbered old houses (we say colombages). Food is meh. I quit teying loczl, i had a greek (bif) and a goid chinese. And lots of curry wursts on pit stops...

I bought a new nightie online. Not the usual full length matronly passion killer type that I tend to buy. Still broderie anglais white cotton as I find them most comfortable in all weathers. This one, however...is ABOVE THE KNEE... Jeff looked at it and said 'that's very nearly a baby doll nightie' 'No' I said 'it's a baby troll nightie' Jeff blinked...and very wisely said nothing at all

Been active lately. Changed a door that was damaged in the basement. Cleaned the garage - going in process since months, lots of progress lately. Repaired some electricity stuff. Painted the garage. Finished. Cut the wood in pieces that fit the insert. Crushed the branches my wife cut. Rearranged the sleeping room. Starts to look ok.

I'm trying to set up a little road trip for the beginning of August, but in spite of the fact that travel is authorised in the EU, it turns about that a great number of hotels are still closed. The fact that everything is booked solid in the south of France is what threw me off. I want to stay north, but nobody wants to go there so a lot of the hotels are closed. Shit.

To anyone who tried to get on to anyport this morning (well, morning my time) & couldn't ~ the host forum's servers went down, taking us and other forums with it.
Coincidentally, today is Proboards' (host forum) 20th anniversary. They could have found a better way to celebrate that milestone!

Why is it that living through a Windows update seems so long and exhausting, even though we're not actually doing anything?

Windows told me that their update had failed. "Please wait while we remove it. Do not turn off your computer."
After an hour of nothing I turned off the computer.

Uh-oh. You're in trouble now. You'll soon get a knock on your door from a gang of IT nerds demanding to know why. All I can say is get in some pizzas, full fat cokes and a 1983 Nintendo console to distract them.

I hope someone on here can help me. I am taking part in a virtual conference on Saturday 26th (i.e.3 days time) It commences at 11:30 am E.D.T which I am guessing is a US timezone.
I am in Central Standard Time in Oz which is +9 and a half hours ahead of what was called GMT. I know that it will probably mean I will be awake all night but can someone tell me , What time in Oz should I be starting to watch for the start of the conference.
I've asked 6 ppl today and got 6 different answers.I can't understand the websites either.

If you google "time in x-city" compared to Adelaide, you will get the correct answer.

Thank you K2 and htmb. I am so ignorant about this coming event that I will just throw myself into 'the deep end' and see what happens. It is a virtual conference for the Duolingo on line language school that I have been studying Indonesian with for the last few months. It is fun to do and I am pleasantly surprised to find how much I remember from my time there.
