I can't keep going round in circles, it's got to end somewhere!

The end of your trials, or the end of the sellotape?

I do wonder if that tape you use to make a straight edge when you are painting a wall might have been better. It's not so sticky.

Masking tape? It's great on cuts. It actually works better if you don't muck it up with bits of kleenex, cotton or other water absorbing material.

Apparently there may just be the three of us, though I suspect there are a few more, who make regular use of the 'Recent' link. The old '80 posts' list.

Apparently there may just be the three of us, though I suspect there are a few more, who make regular use of the 'Recent' link. The old '80 posts' list. I rely heavily on the recent posts list. This forum has so many boards that it's not easy to navigate, and digging up threads from the past sometimes means being being ignored if people have decided the thread was done with long ago.

Nah, as you've certainly noticed, I love digging up old threads from time to time.

I am still alive, but only just. I had difficulty sleeping last night, possibly due to the extraordinary blood loss. I had to stand on my head nearly all night to keep my brain full. It took until about six o'clock this morning until my feet turned from blue to a pale pink colour.
I tried watching night time TV but there was only porn on. There was no way I was going to watch that for long, I didn't want the little blood I had to move and make me faint.

Nah, as you've certainly noticed, I love digging up old threads from time to time. Then you must have missed the post I posted in one of your own threads, to which you didn't respond. It was the one about women enjoying abuse, etc.

Oh, I saw that you had posted. But if you think it was about enjoying abuse rather than craving violence, then we are already off track.

Oh, I saw that you had posted. As I suspected then. Little semantic quips are not a satisfactory response to the points I raised. But leave the thread buried; I'm done.

I certainly hope this doesn't mean you're done posting Betsie. I so welcomed your arrival on here, your fresh intelligent approach and attempts at reviving some interesting threads that had indeed got buried and or derailed. I regret not seeing the post in the above mentioned thread earlier, and regret seeing that it did not get responded to by the moderator who started the thread. This takes "thread burying" to a whole new level on here I'm afraid to say. Jeez....

Jeez is right..... what a hypocritical statement. I've seen at least two of you throw tantrums when you were not getting the response you wanted. Quite the opposite of thread burying! I will say it again: it is impossible to bury a thread.
And it is never obligatory to reply to one, or I'm missing something here.

I will say it again: it is impossible to bury a thread. And it is never obligatory to reply to one, or I'm missing something here. Actually it is, if one follows the general rules of forum etiquette: if somebody starts a thread, then it is a case of simple good manners to respond to any questions or new points raised by posters. Members of staff are generally supposed to encourage debate, not stifle it. Why start a controversial thread if you are going to ignore the responses it gets? And when a member of staff does so and then makes remarks like the above, one can only assume that there's something badly wrong with the forum.

Yes, we have our little moments here, and we also have no staff. I do not reply to threads in which I have lost interest, because I don't even have enough time to reply to all of the threads in which I am interested.
Hope to see you soon, betsie....

So,I see we lost another member,an interesting, intelligent person who was willing to dive into the board and create some meaningful dialogue among other members. What a shame.

Yes, it is a shame, but I had already warned her (and others) that it is dangerous to discuss divisive topics on a small forum. Betsie did not seem to believe me.
And I will repeat that I consider myself to be no more than a member here for all practical purposes, and therefore do not consider that I have an obligation to discuss topics against my will, same as any other member. Many of the topics that I start myself are totally ignored, and I do not take offense. I just try to start a more interesting topic the next time. I have never demanded that people reply to me. If other forums operate differently, I would certainly like to know.

I'd just like to say that you re both/all going a bit too far off topic. The OP wanted random chatter - Hell, who is here, This is a random chatter thread!
You are making it more focused and I'm afraid if this persists I will have to make representations to the forum administrators. The punishment I will suggest is that your access to the forum be adjusted and restricted to just the posts placed by myself. Hopefully you will then learn by my example as to what is correct forum etiquette.
You have been warned.

I hear that when you pull the scabs off, they can be used to replace Maggi beef cubes in soup quite nicely.

Kerouac,I would have absolutely no problem with this statement at all and would not persist in this manner except,it makes no sense to me at all!!! 98% of the divisive, controversial OP's on this board, have been initiated by either yourself or Bixa. Go and look at the board!!!! So,why are they started, and wide open for people to respond to if they are not appropriate for a small forum? And then to go ahead and ignore when a new poster comes aboard? Why even have a section that 's open for debate if people are going to have tip toe around and be intimidated, reluctant to post, only to be ignored? ?

Because it appears that a lot of people cannot remain calm. I think we had an example of that yesterday. I personally do not think it is correct for the members to crave violence.

I just found this blah blah thread.....having recently left another board because it was becoming like a 1950's Holiday Camp (you will enjoy yourself but only if you follow these rules) I have to say this place is such a real pleasure - humour, discussion and dissension - and although I found it intimidating at first (not well travelled, not very sophisticated - ie dull - and probably never will be now... ;D ) I am really enjoying finding new stuff all the time - and I would far rather be ignored on a thread than find a bland meaningless reply. And very little flouncing or heavy handed censoring - what a relief!
