A lovely young girl, Lizzyfaire Would act whilst she stood on a chair She'd recite from the Bard Which she found rather hard And said "for old Will I don't care"

Cricket...
The man with the ball is called Broad He's put the Oz team to the sword The Oz fans didn't shout As he got their team out, But, Oh how the England crowd roared.

The Oz team's in deeper despair So many are now "on a pair" They must watch how they go For surely they know Oz under 19s team is there
(the U-19s are winning their matches in England at the moment. Maybe selectors could look there for younger players.)

And just think how frightening it would be to have a zombie hybrid bear.
There's got to be a film in that somewhere.

There was a cute nurse named Questa Who never could give it a rest. A rhyme would occur, she'd never demur, but always would give it her best -ah!

And Tod2 has taken the time To acknowledge our efforts in rhyme. Without being tiresome I think she should try some Who knows to what level she'll climb?

Farewell Carina
The air is cool on my face The sun rises with a warm embrace I could not know you were saying goodbye As you left on the wings of a butterfly And soon you were gone without a trace

My sisters and I just composed an eight verse limerick for the occasion of the retirement of my parents' sole employee after 56 years with the business. We took turns reciting the verses at the retirement party, as well as making up a memory book with the limericks and photos for him to enjoy in his dotage. He worked till he was 75, taking on more and more of the work as my parents became less able.
As the limerick was filled with inside jokes, it wouldn't be funny to folks who don't know the parties involved, so I'm not quoting it here.
We have also created limericks to celebrate occasions like a chartered Caribbean sail cruise, lampooning ourselves and the crew members.

Our lim'ricks were scattered all round And when wanted could never be found But K brought them all home Never more will they roam. For now they will stand their own ground.

Ah, excellent! you've mastered the trick. Both rhythm and rhyme must be slick. Some start with the rhyme, Follow up with the time. Is that how you do it, young Mick?

Then there's always the matter of form State your subject up front is the norm Shorter lines three and four Simply add a bit more. Then the 'sting' (If you want to conform)
