My daughter has asked for ideas for an early September holiday on a Greek island. When pressed for more details she said she wanted a direct flight from the UK, an apartment near a child-friendly beach and not too many tourists. Any thoughts?

I thought I'd posted on this question but it has disappeared.
I suggest Paxos. Every summer for about 10 years, when the children were small, we rented a fisherman's cottage on the island, usually at Loggos. Loggos is a tiny fishing village surrounded by ancient olive groves. We also used to hire a chug-chug boat so that we could reach deserted beaches. We'd take an icebox with us full of goodies for lunch; we'd also take a large umbrella as the sun is very hot. All the beaches are stony however it's easy to take a boat over to Anti Paxos for sandy beaches. A second choice would be the village of Lakka. The 'capital' is Gaios but that's too busy with boats coming and going to and from Corfu. There is no airport on Paxos so apart from August it's quite uncrowded.
