It's unfortunate, but I can imagine a lot of the African countries choosing him because he is the mostly likely to give them lots of money and/or oil.

And not necessarily for the better. I do wish we would stop telling other countries how to run their own lives, they should be allowed to do their own thing. If they get themselves a bloodthirsty dictator in charge, well, that is their lookout. We have only to look back into our own history to see that we have had some pretty nasty rulers, and we had ways of dealing with them, as the recent exhumation and analysis of King Richard the Third showed.
