Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt... they're all at a turning point. Is the West being hypocritical about democracy in these countries with the Islamic parties winning the biggest share of the vote?
And then of course, Libya will also vote before long...

Of course they're being hypocritical.
If those countries want religious parties to form their governments then so be it.

So, Abdelilah Benkirane has been named prime minister of Morocco. His group, the Justice and Development Party won 107 seats out of 395 in parliament. Now he needs to find his coalition members.
The press keeps asking him if he is going to ban bikinis at the beach or close bars, and he has been quite reasonably saying that he is more interested in reducing unemployment and improving health care, justice and education.
However, he is also remembered for fighting the 2003 family law which gave women the right to divorce and also as recently as June 2011, during a music festival in Rabat, accusing Elton John of "homosexualizing" Morocco and Shakira of promoting improper morals...
It should also be pointed out that only 45.4% of Moroccan voters even bothered to go to the polls and that 20% of the ballots were blank or invalid.
