Yes, and maybe with ME, too.

Me too Lola, that was a part of the mix I was hoping for too but, it never came to fruition. Too many uncertainties and lack of funds to suffice... I trust there will be a time when us kindred spirits converge whether here or there or somewhere in between. Have hope... I do. Good people find each other has always been my belief.

I keep forgetting to post this in here. My recent arm injury I want to and for good reason want to blame on this abominable contraption. I was in the midst of cleaning up some storm damage (downed tree limbs0 when toward the end of my working in the rear of my property near the fence line, a leaf blower cranked up in the parking lot just behind me. It was deafening, ear piercing. It was at this point that I hurled a too heavy, large piece of wood that caused my injury in my haste to Get the F out of there and away.

Within the last few weeks, the past two especially, the onslaught of leafblowers have cranked up blowing all manner of particles into the air.
As a result I have been incapacitated with sinus/allergy reactions. Yesterday in particular was positively the worst ever.
I never ever had any allergy sinus problems while growing up and when I think about it I can seriously pinpoint my problems to the time these monstrosities arrived on the scene.

I wish they were banned in France. Yesterday morning there was a guy using one to blow around some old leaves just close to our house. What a pain in the neck, and the noise is horrible. The municipalities use them instead of people with brooms.

I almost never see them in Paris and I'm pretty sure only used by private gardeners, never the municipal ones.

You don't have to see them -- you would hear them. In Paris I still see cleaners with brooms. Lucky you.

Thank you for posting those links Bixa.
No surprise at the number of pollutants dispersed into the air by these abominations. Some years back when I began this thread I listed some of them and also referred to a lengthy report in the NYer. One study showed that there was a higher incidence of childhood asthma in children in affluent neighborhoods where leaf blowers are used in higher numbers.
As for how to get municipalities to ban their use, several of us have tried here and it comes down to varying districts which are under the jurisdiction of the City Council.
One gentleman who represented one district almost got a ban or at least a restriction on their use succeeded but he is long gone.

All internal combustion engines need to go. But two-stroke engines are the worst because they burn an oil-gas mix.

Yesterday - Saturday! - on Sanibel leafblowers were running all day. :-(
Must be a new landscaper in the neighborhood catching up on a backlog of jobs because we could hear him moving from one neighbor’s property to another’s as the day wore on.
As 5 pm came and went Mr. Kimby heard another neighbor shout (!) at the noisemaker, and silence settled over the neighborhood. Finally.

Broom rakes were about one of the only tools that I found fun as a child. Modern generations are being deprived.

Even with the current pandemic surrounding us, these MFers have been out in full force.
I have almost "lost it" on a couple of occasions this past week as I was outdoors riding my bike and encountered two different teams blowing away and stirring up and dispersing contaminants into the air.
I had to refrain from mowing one down on my bike but then realized I would likely do more harm to myself than the intended target.
One day I may end up being incarcerated for losing control on one of "them".

I think they are just trying to blow the virus away, maybe in your direction.
