Hi CyclingGal, I am a big fan of cycling in France and I have written numerous trip reports about my cycling adventures that are more or less like the report you just read, except I traveled by bike instead of car. Search here in the France forums and just about any report with my username is a cycling report. I'd be happy to help you plan a cycling holiday in Brittany. If you want, you can send me an e-mail at frenchmystiquetours@gmail.com. I'll have loads of advice for you. In the meantime, I suggest you have a look at the following website which is a great reference for biking in France. There is loads of advice on this website about cycling in Brittany so have a look at this and then send me an e-mail and I can give you lots of other advice to get you started: www.freewheelingfrance.comBTW, I have been to the Loire too and although I haven't cycled in either region I know what the landscapes, villages and topography are like in both regions and I would much prefer cycling in Brittany to the Loire. Drop me a line when you feel like it.

I know this is very late-and I may have missed it in the report- but what time of year was this with all the rain?

If you're seeking sunny, dry weather in the winter then Brittany probably isn't the first place most people would consider as a vacation destination. But the Mrs. and I had a longing for the ocean and were seeking a cozy beachside gîte with a fireplace to warmly pass the evenings and we found just such a place in the town of Erquy, which is situated on the Côte de Penthièvre just west of Cap Fréhel. Actually, the very first sentence of the report by FrenchMystique gives that information.

We are planning to retire to Pontrieux, and are renovating a property just off the centre. We plan to have some accommodation to let, as we noticed a lack of village centre hotels. It really is a beautiful place, close to the coast with loads going on. Try it out!
