Great! I'm sure that there are so many reports that you can make about the area. Is that (obviously?) a volcano in your photos? I want to see and learn more about it.

Yes that is most def. a volcano and is so beautiful. I can see it from my business its so close to us. She has been erupting a lot lately too. There is snow on it year around. We were just taking a drive on a sunday afternoon and i wanted to get as close as possible to it so i could take pictures to send back home to my mom. We got to a point and stopped to take some pictures and was in aww. 5 minutes later we heard a big boom and the ground started shaking i thought i was drunk or something. and when we looked up again it was like a mushroom could coming out of the volcano. She knew i was there for a reason and she gave me something beautiful to share.

That we do! Just last month we had a earth quake it was a 10 i think they said my whole store shook! for atleast 5 min or more my video games we have in here moved forward pushing the kids backwards and all my distributors from gamesa and everything threw stuff everywhere it was scary i had never been through something like that before. The ceiling cracks and all i was ready to run! We all went outside as was not sure what was going to happen.

Eek. We live not far from the New Madrid fault, in St. Louis MO. I should be more prepared for the Big One.

For some reason in one of the schoolbooks when I was little (maybe 3rd or 4th grade), there was the story of Paricutin, which I always remembered as "Mexican farmer goes to cultivate his corn field and sees smoke coming out of the ground. One week later there was a big molten hill and everybody ran for their lives." I think I spent the next five years worrying that a volcano might pop up in my backyard at any moment and had numerous nightmares about it.

Ohhh, Heather ~~ if it had been a 10, you probably wouldn't still be here to tell about it! I think the one you felt so strongly was the 6.5 one that hit on December 10, which was certainly bad enough: "The epicenter of the quake was 28 miles from Iguala in Guerrero and was 40 miles deep, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. The quake, originally reported as 6.7 on the magnitude scale, was felt in other states including Michoacan, Puebla and Hidalgo, local media reported." www.reuters.com/article/2011/12/11/us-quake-mexico-idUSTRE7BA00X20111211Your area really shakes with the quakes. The one in 1999 did much more damage in Puebla than here, even though we were closer to the epicenter. I do the same as you in an earthquake. "They" say to get in a doorway, but no way do I want to be buried in rubble. Repent, Lola, repent! Kerouac, I think your schoolbook version of Paricutin is accurate. I have a friend, a New Yorker, who was a girl during the 9 year period of that eruption. Her mother took her down there to see it, which I think is the real thing of cultural enrichment travel.

Yes Bixa you are right i just looked it up and i have heard that we get them pretty bad around here thank god i have only experienced one since i have been here. My mother n law called and told my husband to get dressed and be ready to run out the door lol she said i dont want my daughter n law standing in the street in her calzones hehe Wow Ker that is something to worry about, altho i have never seen smoke coming out of the ground yet and hope never too lol the boom and shake i felt with the volcano that day was enough for me. Ty Nyc ill have more pics to post soon. Went to a christing today and was so beautiful i loved the church and the lovely statues. As soon as i can figure out how to post the pics on here directly i will

can anyone tell me how i post my pics straight to this page? And not having to use a link to my photo bucket?
|
|
|
Post by Kimby on Feb 20, 2012 22:50:02 GMT
You can use your photobucket link, Heather, but highlight it and click on the little picture in a frame icon (2nd in the top row in Quick Reply, 4th icon in bottom row of Reply window).
"img" and "/img" will appear within brackets on either end of the photolink. And your picture will appear in your post when you click "preview" or "post reply"
If I am posting a lot of pictures at one time, I'll just click the little photo icon, hit return, click the icon, hit return, etc. Then when I have copied the photo link from the hosting site (Photobucket or imageshack), I put the cursor between the brackets and click "paste". Easy peasy.
Welcome, Heather. Nice to "see" a new face on here!

Yes, the Church is beautiful, very ornate compared to the ones in my area. I was in Church on Saturday, my niece was married! Yeah! The Catholic Church she was married in is probably our oldest one in the city and probably the largest but very plain compared to the photos you have. The children are all adorable! Oh, and I would have bought the owl piggy bank without a doubt. Here is a photo of my other niece coming down the aisle of the Church, just to show you the difference in architecture and furnishings.

ohh wow it is kinda plain but still beautiful much larger tho i might add in the sitting area, here in the churches there is not quit as much sitting areas as there are statues and things to look at. One church i went to not to long ago was nothing but pure gold i tried to take pics and they didnt come out! I was told because of all the gold.
