Abandoned amusement parks like this one fascinate me no end. I totally understand abandoning factories or mines or decrepit shops, but there is something about abandoning places of fun that is particularly sad. It's as though suddenly there was no more fun available. I know that Berlin has lots of space, but so many cities would gobble up a zone like this as soon as it became available.

I learned about that amusement park while I was looking up information before going to Berlin in 2008. It wasn't just abandoned -- there was some business with the owner being charged with fraud -- some unclear legal business. Maybe Rikita knows more about it?

Fascinating, but also super creepy. It's got a haunted quality, like you can almost hear echoes of laughter and music. I can picture a Tim Burton movie being set there.

Don't usually check out the Germany section but this is a fantastic find! I envy (in a good way) those who can go explore the place. Thanks so much!
