Youssou N'Dour has just become the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Senegal after the recent election there.
He wanted to run for president, but the regime that just lost the election disqualified him. Sweet revenge!

Jack Lang is amazing since he was culture minister in France in 1981 -- more than 30 years ago -- and there must have been at least 10 or 12 different culture ministers since then, but he made such a mark during his stint that people still think of him as being a sort of eternal minister of culture.

I know nothing about the politics of Senegal...no excuse for ignorance is there? I shall go google. What I've heard of Mr N'Dour's music I have enjoyed. More googling.... ;D
