Cool thread idea and photos. I'd be terrified to fly in one of these, though! My husband recently saw the space shuttle Enterprise flying on top of a Boeing 747. Alas, he did not get a picture.

You're right, Casimira -- a strange oversight.
Nice pics of the little cuties!

Seeing this made me think I have now seen two photos with a link to Trump within the Image bank. I wonder if there are others?

I don't know which ones you're thinking of, but I posted a photo of Trump Tower. He's everywhere, isn't he?

I don't see how they could have come out any better!
Look how the water exactly mirrors the silhouette of the plane in the foreground in that 2nd picture in #10.

Fantastic Mossie , thank you
I was trying to work out the year that would equate to 59 years ago and came up with approx 1953 ?
My Dad was stationed in the area around this time I think approx '52 ? I must search out and scan some of his photos which I know I still have.

Whoa! The first & the last of that series are particularly brilliant, Kerouac.

Well done Kerouac, it is never easy to capture good formations from the ground.
For Lugg, I served in Egypt from Feb 1952 to Aug 1954, so you are spot on. That was the last night fighter Mosquito left and my C.O. And I brought it home in July 1953. .

Mossie - I admire any pilot who has been at the controls of old aircraft like that. I peered into a few cockpits of craft in the military museum in Johannesburg, and just shook my head....how the heck did they fly sitting in what looks like the most uncomfortable seat, with metal all around, and little else. My goodness, I find it terrible brave.
Curt - Wonderful photography! I love that shot underneath the belly of that red plane.

Because of the sun beating down on the tarmac, everyone spent a lot of time under the planes!

Super pictures, Curt! My dad would have enjoyed seeing those. He was a ferry pilot during WWII & could identify all kinds of planes at a glance.
Love your angles, particularly in the first & last, and the composition in all of them. The second & third, both featuring a plane in the foreground & some some aviation razzle-dazzle in the sky are particularly satisfying.

Those photos are absolutely spectacular. Of course now I am wondering how much action the Royal Thai Air Force has seen.

Love the angles, light, & color in your first two, Imec.
Nice interpretation of the theme, Mossie, & surprising, too, with that window in the background.
