Sally Ride was one of my heroes. I heard her speak at an educational technology conference several years. She was a brilliant and engaging speaker, and has been an inspiring role model for young women interested in science.

I was reading up about Valentina Tereshkova as well -- now age 75 -- who was the first woman in space in 1963. Pioneer days!

I didn't know that about Valentina Tereshkova. It's a shame that Sally Ride had to die to get back into the news, but so many aspects of her life are inspiring in different ways, as you say Htmb.
