What Lugg said. Another topic that's surprising in that it never came up before -- it's a natural.
Super pictures from everyone. Never in a million years would I have guessed that last one.

Ça, c'est Paris - where else, in that outfit? On the steps of the Bibliothèque Nationale: et ça, c'est Paris - the communal staircase of the apartments I had a home exchange to once (how many stories in all that wear?):

Gad, readers in Paris have to be in good condition! Do the ones bringing back a bunch of heavy books collapse on the way up very often? Super picture, Patrick.
6Lucky, I love your chambered nautilus stairs!

I am loving all of these.
Great picture of the arc stairs! The day I went up and down those, plus up and down the red carpeted spiral three or four times, AND walked back and forth across town I felt like I should have earned a prize ;D

Not in the same league photographically as the previous posts, but it is a stairway to heaven.

They probably come round by the main street entrance on the other side - that's on the level!

6lucky thank you for the photos of Chateau Blois. I immediately recognized it. Currently, we have a resident of Blois staying here where I live in Canada, she is on student exchange with our cousin who schooled with her in Blois in the spring. I had never experienced this place before and have since seen so many photos of the Chateau and the amazing staircases.

Lovely stairs, everyone, and such a great variety. I can't believe you all have been sitting on this gold mine all this time.

Great idea for a thread Kerouac! The last of my photos is of Hotel Splendid in Annecy, France. I will have to take a summer photo of my stairway to add to my fall and winter photos.

The fall one is gorgeous. The winter one is, too, but it doesn't make me want to be there.

That autumn picture couldn't be any more gorgeous, Mich!
Are the stairs of granite, Kerouac? They're beautiful and the cryptic markings look somewhat like zodiac symbols. What are they really?

Arabic? This reminds me, the steps of Lincoln Center have "welcome" written in different languages on them. I've been meaning to get a photo.

I'm curious about the location of these steps, Kerouac (stadium?) Those steps are in the Bibliothèque François Mitterrand metro station. They are numbered in the different alphabets of the world.
