I've put this poll here as it isn't country specific to go in the travel branch.
I've got about ten days or so to myself next February. I want somewhere with decent weather (20 degrees or so) and that doesn't require a long, long flight from Jordan. One stop off is ok but I don't want to have to travel for 12 hours or so in either direction just to get there. The most important thing though is that it will be a driving holiday, so I need a country that is large enough for me to spend many days tootling around in a hire car.
P.s. I fear driving in no country and have driven many thousands of miles around India, south east Asia, the Middle East and even Milton Keynes.

Morocco? -- If you go along the Atlantic coast it would probably be warm enough. I wouldn't drive there but you probably would.

I don't remember what your take is on Namibia?

annie, SA and Namibia, though tempting are too expensive to get to from Amman and take nearly a day to get there. Namibia I know very well.
bjd, Morocco is fine to get to but as you say it is really only the south that might be warm enough. I certainly don't want to get up in the snow in the mountains. The average temperature for Tarfaya (the southernmost point) is still a few degrees below Delhi though.

Delhi, in February? I've been there and it was FREEZING! it was snowing. I kid you not. if you go to India, you'll have to go South.

That's the exception though Annie. I'd anyway drive straight out of there and head initially into Rajastan.

Mark, I think along the coast it's not that cold -- inland, towards Marrakesh it freezes, but the coast isn't cold. Here are the averages for Agadir: www.holiday-weather.com/agadir/averages/february/I guess northwestern India might be warm indeed. But is that your only criterion?

Thanks for the link. However, it doesn't compute when it states, "The average daily temperature in Agadir is 21°C (70°F), reaching highs of 20°C or dropping to lows of 9°C."Surely the average is more in keeping with the website I use, Weatherbase, which show 15 degrees. www.weatherbase.com/weather/weather.php3?s=5206&refer=&cityname=Agadir-Souss-Massa-Dr%E2a-MoroccoAnyway, my criteria is that the flight must be less than 500 euro, last no more than twelve hours in either direction including layover time, no more than one stop, weather 20 degrees average or so, large enough to drive many, many days in and be reasonably safe. The main problem is the first part, the flight. Amman isn't exactly the centre of the flight universe.

I've always wanted to go to Tamanrasset.
Other than that, I think the southern Turkish coast looks very interesting. If Syria were not a problem, it is even driveable from Amman.

The average temp for the southern Turkish coast in Feb is ten degrees with a high of fourteen. So probably not. Though it is a destination I'm thinking of for next Easter time. The Syrian border is less than an hour from me.

With a little bit of luck, Syria might be calm by next Easter.
