Yes, snow at last! Bravo! And it is snowing abundantly right this minute! It is relief that the café finally put their outdoor chairs away. I kept wondering "don't they know it's December, for Chrissake?" I'll bring the link to page 2 if anybody else is interested: www.ville-gap.fr/fr/citoyen/vivre-a-gap/webcam.html

They have a lot of snow. Quite a lot of people out, though it is late in the evening.
Quite a few place here still have chairs and little tables out, but that is because it is now forbidden to smoke inside. We have no snow yet, but it is below 0°c late in the evening. I see them shivering in their coats as they smoke.

There are a few inches of snow on Place Jean M. now.
It finally dawned upon me that Paris cafés have outdoor heated areas for the smokers (and for fine days still, and romantics like my husband.) London does not extend this option to pub goers, who huddled outside on our last chilly night there Thursday.

Ah yes, that's about how much snow we were supposed to have in Paris. The snow did fall for a few hours, but it was too warm to stick... Maybe next time!

Did MC know that not far in the part around Sisteron the wellknown lamb comes from especially known in La Provence. You can find it in most of the restaurants and it is great. If she goes again to Marseille, maybe over a weekend, it would be good if she looks before what the city has to offer. Starting the past 12 January the city is "European Capital of Culture" - www.mp2013.fr/

Something special in Gap would be the 18 July 2013 when the Tour de France cross the town.

Thank you, regards. I will pass this along to MC. I think the summers in Gap must be just lovely. They've been going snowboarding on weekends lately, and having a lot of fun.
She loves it there now, and is agonizing over whether to come back to the US in time for a friend's June wedding, or to stay in Gap until her work visa expires. There's a regular Wednesday afternoon pickup volleyball game, she's made friends at the local gym, has her regular fruit stand at the market...

Yes, htmb. Thank you! That's why I'm not urging her to rush on back.
