For many kids, marching band is more than just playing a musical instrument. It's an anchor to normalcy. It's a support group. A lifeline. Some young people excel as musicians, while others may not; but in the marching bands I've been associated with for close to fifty years I can tell you that the successful performers - talented or not - work long, hard hours to perform as a cohesive group. For many young people band is more than just formations executed on a field, more than the sound made by a well-played horn. It's a lesson in how to live a positive and healthy life, in how to work with others, and it's often an extended family. This clip speaks for itself. This one's for casimira. I got an email from these folks announcing that there will be some clips of this documentary that are going to be aired Superbowl Sunday here in NOLA. (2/3). To be aired 1pm EST on CBS (I think.... ) The other news is that they are wrapping up production on the movie and it will be premiering "soon". Thanks again Htmb for turning us onto this. You can't believe how many appreciative people here I have passed this onto.
