Tickets for "The Hobbit" are on sale since Friday here... the film will open on 14th December.
I want to go see this film, but I don't like the idea of being .... what's the word... something about it being so blatantly commercial and building a hype.

"manipulated"?
"pressured"?
Regardless of what they're doing or how you feel about it, if you want to be one of the first to see the movie, you'd better snap up one of those tickets now. ;D

WE certainly would not judge you harshly, as long as you post a quick review.

You can be our representative to the premiere. No, wait -- it comes out here on December 12th so I guess I will see it before you do. ;D
This is one case where I am happy that movies are rarely faithful to the book. As much as I loved The Lord of the Rings, I was pretty much bored by The Hobbit, which seemed totally trivial to me at the time. Probably I should go back and reread it because I might find that my opinion has changed completely. However, I do remember the size of the book compared to the three volumes of the other thing, and the fact that they have made The Hobbit into a triology as well mystifies me. In any case, I'm pretty sure that the movie(s) will be exciting and spectacular, and I need that kind of movie from time to time.

yes, the book is tiny. I found it so easy to read compared to the Lords of the Ring trilogy! They have added lots to it I think. A kind of reverse process to what happened with the LOTR adaptations, which were quite faithful, but they took lots and lots off!
And I already have my outfit. I will wear Mithril to the showing. I will speak to my friends at the cinema tomorrow to decide what to do.
