Just for fun, what would you say are your greatest achievements so far? We all feel proud and good about something(s) that we've accomplished or done in our lives. What are yours? I'll wait for some replies before telling you mine

This sort of subject always requires considerable thought. *scratches head*

Not for me, but then - I am a show off! Or maybe I just haven't accomplished much so it's easy for me to sum it all up in one sentence ;D Methinks people are being too modest.

Actually, I believe you've touched on an area that's extremely personal. Also, for me, making a declaration of something I've accomplished would be accompanied with feelings of simplification and devaluation. I am sure that's not what you intended when creating this thread. I have feelings of inner satisfaction about some of the things I've accomplished in my life, both big and small, but naming them in a public forum has a feeling of making them seem less special, for me anyway. For instance, I am extremely proud of myself for learning to travel internationally as a single female. For me personally, this was a major accomplishment, (but not the highest on my personal list). However, it was also a very complicated undertaking. Putting it here doesn't even begin to show the depth of my experience and my emotional journey. I use this as an example, and not for any sort of public recognition. Validation has already come from within. Besides, many people think nothing of traveling by themselves and to those folks my personal journey would seem insignificant. I would assume this is much more of a complicated answer than you thought you'd get when you started the thread, deyana. Perhaps others will weigh in with different opinions, or with lists.

htmb - I see where you are coming from. Some things in peoples lives have been just too harrowing an achievement to even think of putting 'keyboard to screen' or the old fashioned pen to paper And then what of those who have achieved great things, but dust them off like dandruff on a collar..... I would love to hear from you Deyana - get us started and maybe out of our shells ;D

Not a complicated answer at all, htmb. I'm the queen of complicated, so it's all fine. I totally agree with you. I have personal accomplishments that for me are very special, sharing those would makes them less valuable in my mind. They are locked away somewhere where they can't be touched or tarnished. Traveling as a single female certainly is an accomplishment, one that I'm hoping to achieve, starting early next year. It's a challenge, but one I've put on the back-burner for too long. I'm looking forward to the challenge, although I am nervous about it all. I guess what we accomplish in life might have a different meaning to us than to someone else, but as long as you feel good, deep down, about achieving whatever it is you achieved, that's all that counts.

Well stated HTMB. I find threads of this nature either tedious, superficial, contrived, and, or, all of the above. There are ample threads on here already for people to express themselves creatively either with words, music, photographs, their gardens and hobbies, what they read etc. And then, there's always Random Thoughts. "A Feel Good Thread" seems rather cheesy to me, I don't feel good about it. But, this is just my personal opinion.....

I would love to hear from you Deyana - get us started and maybe out of our shells ;D You've hit a sensitive point with me, Tod I DID put down on paper the very disturbing childhood that I had, and recently just finished the book, a memoir called 'Three more pennies.' I can't help but feel good about finally completing it. It was one of the most difficult things I have ever done, as I had to dig deep into my soul, my memories, my life as it was then. Now I have a feeling of some kind of closure and it's amazing now how it seems that a great weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Here it is:

casimira, if you don't feel good about this thread and it's all you say it is and it makes you feel bad, then don't post on it. Simple. Like you say there's plenty of other threads that might interest you more.

Thanks, htmb. I'm so glad I did it, even though it was really hard to do. I felt it was a time and place that needed to be documented and told from a personal point of view.
btw, accomplishments should make us feel happy and feel good about ourselves, that's the whole point of doing them.

Thanks, Kerouac. But enough about me! I'd really like to hear about others and their thoughts.
