I reecently was delighted to find Yellowtail Shiraz for sale at the Morelia Costco. The price was even reasonable. Little did I suspect the hazard that awaits the consumer. It was hard to tell at first whether it was a cork stopper or screw top. With a wine tool, I began to peel away the unusually heavy metal "foil" capsule. The stuff was nasty, and sharp. I had to grasp it with a folded kitchen towel to peel it away without cutting myself. Finally, it was off. It was a screw top. But wait! There's more: the screw top retained some very sharp edges from the remnant capsule shards. The wine is good, very good, but one shouldn't be exposed to such hazard of cuts to the hands and fingers. Move to today. I had also purchase a variety pack of Daniele Italian Style deli meats. It's very attractive. The packaging is modern and "advanced". Same thing, only my package was lableed in Spanish
Peeling away a zip-strip exposes a zip-loc which exposes a sealed membrane. It's unusually tough and when I was slitting it open with a paring knife, the knife slipped and I pricked my finger. Some blood escaped. Further on into the Daniele packaging puzzle, it seemed that despite the advanced modern packaging, the only way to get at the product was the rip the fxcker open. I did that, to my ultimate satisfaction. I am now finishing up an antipasto plate of the meats and other stuff. Good products, both; lousy, frustrating and potentially hazardous packaging

Things taste better with blood.
I am amazed by how absolutely impossible it is to open certain products even when there is a little tab and an arrow pointing to it to tell you where to pull. You can pull on some of those tabs until your arm breaks. I often end up with pliers or scissors and put myself at risk.

I keep two different pairs of sharp scissors in the kitchen for opening packaging, and use them regularly. I use the heavy duty gardening scissors for opening those annoying plastic packages.
Don, here they sell Yellow Tail in convenience stores and at CVS.
