The University of Montana system Board of Regents had a policy restricting guns on campus, but the state legislature passed a law forbidding the regents from restricting “our 2nd Amendment rights”.
So now they HAVE to allow guns in dorms and in classrooms. The argument is “How can we protect ourselves (from guns, presumably) if we aren’t allowed to carry guns?
It is also now OK to carry guns - openly or concealed - in bars and taverns. What could go wrong?!

All of these people just need to shoot each other. And since the ICUs will be overflowing with unvaccinated idiots, all of them will die anyway and lead Americans to brighter tomorrows.

Nope. When I saw open carry in a mall in San Antonio, Texas back in 2017, my stomach did a flip of horror.
Remember, the US is a country that fights for the right not to have universal health care, so its apparent desire to kill its young shouldn't be so shocking.

Don't make me call you anti-American. You have done it enough to me. If one's anti-americanism was to be judged by one's position on gun control and healthcare we would be 99pc anti-american. Or better said anti-US, there are a lot normal americans, may they be Candadians, Mexicans or Argentinians.

Most Americans when polled want both stricter gun control and universal healthcare but we don't have a real democracy—they're auctions rather than elections—so instead of what the people want, you get what the rich and most willing to buy a result do. If voting made any difference, it'd be illegal is an old saying, and it's not untrue.

A dear friend of ours who passed away some years ago once stated "I tried voting once, it didn't work".

I think it took me about 25 years of voting for one of my candidates to finally win. So I can see how people who want instant gratification can get discouraged.

Another mass shooting. 14 children and one adult shot dead at a Texas school.

Instead of setting up a community prayer centre, they could push for gun control. I also wish Ted Cruz would get shot by a kid with an assault rifle and body armour.

Other countries have changed the laws when necessary. I think they just want to live that way.

Meanwhile, the Texas Attorney General says teachers should be armed. What a great idea, more guns.

Are they so blindly stupid that they can’t see that this doesn’t happen in countries where guns are banned?

So the argument is to arm teachers. So they have the responsibility of killing or maiming an 18 year old with a semi automatic rifle. Really? Do American employment laws allow for that?

Do American employment laws allow for that? Oh, I'm sure the Republicans would be more than happy to pass a law for that. Much faster than gun control laws.

Now that there is a new situation we can wonder if this will be the straw that breaks the camel's back or if it will all play out like the previous five hundred times. Personally, I think it is just the movie Groudhog Day again.

Is there any logical explanation of the resistance to gun control? Of course not, but there is lots and lots of money and power behind preventing gun control in the US. Add moral disgust to the sorrow and frustration: heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/may-24-2022?s=r

Yep. An the person who wrote it knows that, too, since the whole point is that there is a brainwashed public along with that juggernaut in place to knock down reform.

From The Independent, in an article about Ted Cruz offering his prayers to the town of Uvalde where the shooting was:
"In fact, Mr Cruz defended gun rights following the mass shooting in his state. Speaking to the BBC, he said: ““Inevitably when there is a murder of this kind you see politicians try to politicise it, you see Democrats and a lot of other folks in the media whose immediate solution is to try to restrict the constitutional rights of law abiding citizens. “That doesn’t work, it’s not effective. It doesn’t prevent crime.” Criticising Mr Cruz’s position on gun control, Kurt Bardella, who advises the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, tweeted: “Ted Cruz received $300k from the pro-gun crowd so take your prayers and shove them up your ass. Your acceptance of this blood money tells us how much your prayers are worth.”

I'm sure that some group has done this, but it would be very interesting to see a list of the anti gun control politicians and the amounts they have received in contributions from the NRA and other gun lobbies.
