Southwest Florida Eagle CamWatch as a pair of nesting eagles tend to their two chicks hatched at the beginning of 2013. The bald eagle pair have been hatching babies in the same nest every year since 2007. The nest is 60 feet up a slash pine tree.

I've been watching mama eagle (or maybe papa?) sitting in the nest with the two chicks sort of writhing around a little for several minutes and she looks both super vigilant and bored. Not very maternal at all, though, so the suspense is along the lines of "is she suddenly going to peck the little things and eat them?"

Thanks Htmb - enjoyed having a peek at the chicks
I was surprised how close the nest is to what looks to be a busy road

Thank you, lugg. The last two times I tried I couldn't get into the site. One of the drawbacks of helping to spread the news, I guess. When I have gotten in, I have observed the adults feeding and tending to the babies. It's amazing to me how careful they are when stepping gingerly around their young.

It's really fun to see how much the baby eagles have grown!

I thought that one of the babies had died, but his sibling was just sleeping on top of him.

Yes, it's sometimes looks that way to me, too. One of the chicks is from an egg laid earlier than the other. So he/she is a few days older. You can really tell the difference in size and development, one day a while back I saw the older chick eating on its own, while one of the parents fed the other.

The baby eagles have grown into beautiful adolescents.
