Congratulations to you and your husband Rikita! Sorry to read about the complicated birth but happy for you both that all was resolved with the care and attention of the team of health providers and that mommy and baby are doing well.
I will look forward to next week when you have a few moments to write some random thoughts of being a new mom.
Yesterday, the 17th, was my mother-in-laws 75th birthday so I think I will always remember the announcement of the birth of your baby girl.

Wonderful news for the three of you, though I'm sorry you had to go through a difficult delivery.
That gives me a nice glow on what is a chilly day here in Montréal.

I'm so very happy for you, Rikita. Wishing you all the best with your new baby, and hoping your recovery is swift. I know a cesarean was not what you planned, but thank goodness all is well and good.

Still waiting for news from Rikita -- if all went well, she returned home today but perhaps she is busy with something, not to mention probably being overrun by the visits of family and friends.

My very best wishes to you and your family Rikita! I am so glad it's all gone well (with a slight hitch) but nothing serious, so take your time and settle in. Like many others I am champing at the bit to know what you have called your daughter! Has she an old fashioned name, or has she a film stars name,....or has she a family name.....or all three ;D

Just a short hello again... the name is a slightly old fashioned one (at least for here) - Agnes ... and now I need to go to bed (after waking up mr. r. who is asleep on the sofa, holding her)...

Agnes is a lovely old fashioned name -- not at all trendy and therefore original.

Yes, I like Agnes. Rather old-fashioned in French and in English as well, but very nice. At least she isn't Moon Unit.

I agree -- Agnes is a nice name. Not totally uncommon here, although more like 20-25 years ago.

I am wondering what the German pronunciation of Agnes is.
In English it is Agg-ness. In French it is Ann-yess.

it's [ˈaɡnɛs] - imo closer to the English version and it's indeed a nice name!

A really unusual name here, but whatever way it is pronounced I'm sure her 'pet' name is going to be Aggie I find that endearing !

Post by rikita on Jan 25, 2013 13:16:51 GMT
yes, we say agi (or aggie) sometimes, though mr. r. also says nessie, and i sometimes say agnieszka (which is the polish form)...

Oh, what a beautiful name, as pure and perfect as the little girl who bears it!
I really like Mr. R's version of the pet name. Nessie has a nice bright sound.
