KNOCKED OUT!
What a glorious array of saturated beauty. Truly, you can find happiness in your own back yard.
Sheer photographic poetry ~~ thank you!

Some lovely pics, particularly the sunsets. Again I envy you for living there

Such a lovely orange in the sunset photos. But even the first photos make me remember how even in the middle of the winter in the deep south, there are always some green leaves to fight the trend.
I was wondering where all of the vapor trails are coming from. Just commercial airliners or perhaps planes from Eglin or McDill?

Thanks to everyone for your very kind comments. The photos were taken in this sequence over the course of about 40 minutes.
It really is a lovely time of year. The worst months are mid-June through September when the heat and humidity are overwhelming. I doubt you'd want to be here then, Mossie.
Kerouac, most of the vapor trails were from commercial airplanes. There's a lot of traffice north and south, up and down the state, as you can imagine. However, the photos of the two parallel lines were taken of two military jets as they raced south. MacDill AFB is approximately 140 miles south of me, so perhaps that's where they were headed. Sometimes we also have jet traffic from the Naval Air Station located in Jacksonville, off to the northeast.

Fantastic htmb! the evening photos reminded me of a saying that my husband repeats to me during the summer nights,
"A pink sky at night, a sailor's delight, a pink sky in the morning, sailor's take warning."
Your photo of the vapor trails reminds me of lounging in my chair in the lake in the summer watching them and day dreaming of where I will fly away too.
Off your deck is a beautiful place.

Yes, I absolutely did htmb!
I like the premise "off my deck", it gives a feeling of where you LIVE in the world and I would enjoy for others to post "off my balcony", "off my porch", "out my apartment window" etc. to your thread. I think sharing our daily view would be an interesting photo essay as there are members here from so many countries.

I will start then, found this one "of my deck". It looks very much like this right now.

So that would be "looking at my deck" rather than "off my deck." But I don't see you! ;D Of course, in such weather, you are wise to stay inside.

You are absolutely correct Kerouac, I am not often outside in this weather, much prefer relaxing by the fireplace until spring! Mossie, you have beautiful surroundings. Those houses must be 4 or 5 bedroom homes! Looks like a wonderful area to raise a family.

I wonder in what part of my anatomy I was keeping my head -- never saw Mich's & Mossie's fabulous pictures!
Mich, your photo has the most wonderful 3D quality, plus is beautiful and subtle.
Mossie, "our guy in the sky" nailed the perfect rainbow, of course.
Love all your latest deck shots, Htmb, but the cardinal totally sends me.

Now that the snow has melt, I will get out tomorrow and take photos of the view now off the deck. Still ice on the lake...

Mich, I will look forward to seeing your new pictures. It's hard for me to fathom ice on your lake at this point since it's been so warm here for weeks now. I sometimes forget how far north you live.

Htmb you live in a beautiful area with exotic birds to boot. My shack is a bog standard 80's estate house, some are 4 bedrooms and some 3, mine is a 3 bed house identical to the one on the left of my photo. I have another row behind me but we are well placed on the edge of town. Our children had flown the nest when we downsized here. My youngest, still single, had recently left university and started work, but used to come home quite frequently. I told him the last time he was home before we moved, "We are moving next week, but I won't tell you where to"

Well, Mossie, it must be a pretty special place to have a complete rainbow forming overhead. What a killer shot! Right now, off my deck, I can hear loud praise music coming from an outdoor event held at a church down the street. The church is tiny, with a small congregation, and this is the first time I can recall them hosting this type of an event. The church is surround by beautiful, park-like grounds where I like to walk my daughter's dog when she visits.
