Very interesting remark Mark. To answer we must put ourselves back in 45. Trent damp was classified. USSR was the expected enemy. Allies wanted info on how to fight the Soviets, wanted the results and f Reich researches (von Braun … ). Nobody wanted to alienate the remnants of Germany and wanted to work with ‘clean’ Germans. So a clean Wehrmacht and ugly SS was a good solution for all. IMO.
