Florian Geyer. A German knight ho was very active in a peasant revolt in Germany in the 16th century.
The revolt was crushed by the nobles, supported by Martin Luther (not the king) who marginally appreciated Geyer destroying and burning churches and cathedrals. Ecclesiastics still inside.
His name was given to the 8th SS cavalry division.
Cavalry was highly effective in moving around in the relatively unsafe rear of the German armies in Russia.
These sobs were highly effective against partisans - more often than not just just unarmed civilians - but were virtually annihilated in Budapest.
