This game was very popular on the Lonely Planet Thorn Tree and went to more than 4500 posts before exhausting itself almost two years ago.
The basic rules were set down as (I will not even censor a reference that was made to a well known poster):
Your entry must use at least one word from the previous entry. 1. your entry can come from any art form -- theatre, song titles, album titles, novels, telenovelas, you name it. (But if it's obscure, you have to tell us what it is.) 2. You have to list two answers for your entry; this will make it a little harder (a gift for Kerouac); the next person then can come up with something from either of those two answers.
Examples to start the game:
a. Love in the time of cholera - novel, Gabriel Garcia Marquez Love will tear us apart - song, Joy Division
b. Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? (Movie) Will You Love Me Tomorrow? (Song)
c. Tomorrow Never Knows (Song) The Day After Tomorrow (Movie)
d. Never Cry Wolf (movie) Never on a Sunday (song)
Let's take it from there.
1. Sunday Bloody Sunday (movie) Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon (song)

I think the words can be slightly modified when appropriate. For example:
Men at Work (Australian pop band)
Children of Men (science fiction movie)

Er, I suppose it should have been made clear that the replies should come from 2 different art forms.
