Cant follow the link for some reason Bixa Sorry, Lugg. It appears to be a very old site. It is a news article about a college boxing match in 1940 (your favorite kind of reading, no?) and a picture of the 1939-1940 Southwestern Louisiana Institute boxing team ~ Louisiana Acadien 1940 Southwestern 5; Louisiana State University 3 Southwestern's great test of the season, according to pre-season dope, was the Bulldog encounter with the Louisiana State University Tigers, Southeast Conference champions in 1940. The highly touted Bengal squad fell 5 to 3 in its own coliseum, before some 8,000 fans, probably the largest crowd ever to witness a Southern collegiate dual meet. Harper again set the stage for the Bulldogs with an impressive win over Tiger Harger in the card's opener, to be followed by Ourso, who rocked LSU's Mickey Domingue to win by; a large margin. Lightweights Harry Deal and Roy Amedee fought to a draw in the third bout of the evening. Wilbert Conques jabbed and slugged his way to an easy victory over Hollaway of the Tigers n the 145 pound division, and Fred Logsdon "cinched" the meet for the Bulldogs by disposing of Shelby Dupont in less than three rounds. Logsdon had the Tiger boxer walking aimlessly into the ropes, and just before the end of the third round the referee stepped between the two fighters and awarded the decision to Southwestern. Aren't you glad you asked?!

What a lovely piece of family history Thanks, Lugg, but really ~ yes & no. My dad was really athletic, but was too small in high school to play football. Some coach put him on to boxing, which apparently didn't have the thuggish stigma back then that it has now. Anyway, he was so good at it that he wound up going to university on a boxing scholarship. We now know that young athletes need to be much more protected against head injuries. My dad died of dementia.

I think that the first James Bond song that I ever really noticed, apart from the inevitable "Goldfinger," was this one. I think it was particularly the aquatic photography that mesmerized me.

This is probably the most famous James Bond theme in France, because the instrumental break (which starts at 0:48) was used for the theme of the top political debate programme in France from (L'heure de vérité) from 1982 to 1995.
6. Live and Let Die - Paul McCartney
