Illiers-Combray - French town near Chartres where my grandmother spent two summers in a vacation residence. It used to be just called Illiers, but Marcel Proust spent a lot of time there eating madeleines and in his novels he called it Combray, so in 1971 it changed its name tp Illiers-Combray. I visited my grandmother regularly and we probably ate at the same restaurant next to the station where Proust ate.
