It is likely that none of you have ever experienced a film with commentary for the blind because tonight was the first time that I ever saw heard one. I don't know if it was the only way to watch this movie on cable tonight or if I screwed up something on the remote control, but it was absolutely fascinating.
The movie in question was The Other Son, so the dialogue was also voiced over when it was in Hebrew or Arabic, but it was a really interesting experience. The commentary describes details of the rooms, the clothing, the facial expressions or the actions that seeing people would possibly not pay attention to.
Since the two "commentators" (male and female) are describing things all the time, it is a bit more exhausting than just watching a movie the normal way, but at the same time, it is a godsend for those of us who sometimes "rest our eyes" when watching a movie in the evening. Even when your eyes are closed, you don't miss one bit of the movie. I would love to have this option on all movies that I try to watch after dinner!
