I didn't really know what an air show exactly is but your report has made it come alive incredibly well! There's an air show in Bangalore too (I think annually) and I would like to visit it if the opportunity arises.

So, it was announced that this year's show had 11% more visitors than the last one in 2013.
130 billion euros in contracts were signed, of which 110 billion were for Airbus and Boeing. The most impressive contract was for Airbus DS, which sold 900 satellites to the American company OneWeb, which aims to provide internet service to everywhere in the world with these.

I suppose today was the last day of the show? Even though the crowded airport train we were on this morning was an express, it stopped at Le Bourget where at least 80% of the people got off.

Very impressive show. Amazing that the pilots in those little planes can fly in formation only a few feet apart. You got some really good shots of the daring feats. I would have loved to see their "good weather" program.
Flying is indeed a terrifying concept. For some reason, though, when I fly my mind doesn't seem to grasp that I'm thousands of miles in the air and there are a million things that could go wrong. I'm more likely to get scared hiking a mountain, or even just a hill.

Can't believe I never saw this thread before! On the up side, it was a thrill to go through it from the beginning. I am a complete sucker for air shows, & the pictures made it seem almost like being there. Maybe good weather is better for viewing, but the shots of all the aircraft with the stormy skies are wonderfully dramatic. Thanks for this, Kerouac -- beautifully presented and extremely enjoyable.
