I’m pretty much over it now but it seems to have upset my body temperature regulator and I’m feeling the cold much more than usual. Dropped half a stone. I have been totally metricated...remind me, how much is a stone? This is a chance to exercise and keep the weight off if you want to. Otherwise gradually get back to normal. Leave dairy until a week or so has passed. You have my sympathy and commiserations. I had Bacillary Dysentery for 10 days in the high mountains of northern Pakistan....nasty. So glad you are coming good.

Norovirus. It came over me last night as I was watching Silent Witness. I got all feverish and shaky then started to have pains in my abdomen. Just made it to the bathroom for the fireworks to start. It carried on all night. I think I'm empty now. They say to keep your fluids up but I daren't drink anything aside from sips of flat pepsi (which seems to help strangely enough)
I assume that it's norovirus, I wouldnt normally have pain, headache and a fever with a food induced upset. It's not fun is it? I've not had norovirus before I don't think.

I think you mentioned somewhere before you don't like Coke. When I'm in far off areas I drink it because if it can clean brass, it must be good for keeping bugs at bay. How true, no idea, but I'm too scared now to stop doing it. If I do start getting the something funny in my tummy feeling I drink flat Coke and always felt it to be beneficial. Pepsi instead it probably as effective and the fluid does help with hydration. Maybe an old wives' tale but good enough for me.

As a child, it was 7-Up for me. If it came back up, the colour was less disgusting.

I was very surprised the first time a French doctor told me to buy Coke or Pepsi and knock the bubbles out and to give it to one of my kids who had some kind of stomach flu.
There is a flu epidemic in France at the moment. My son-in-law had it this weekend.

I’ve had norovirus when I was working. I left early because I felt ill but didn’t quite make it home and had to pull into the side to unload the contents of my stomach. Took about 5 days to get over it. It’s not nice.
Rest up Cheery.

Is norovirus just from the nether end or both ends? I had something from Thursday night & into Friday that was only the sitting on the toilet kind, no barfing. Strangely, I didn't feel bad otherwise. a French doctor told me to buy Coke or Pepsi Up until at least the 1970s you could buy something called Coca-Cola syrup off the shelf in drugstores in the US. My mother used to give us Coke when we were sick and every southerner knows that it helps cure a hangover. I never heard the thing about getting rid of the bubbles, and would think the bubbles might help any nausea, as flat Coke would seem nastily sweet. I have heard of giving flat ginger ale to people with nausea and ditto on the flat/sweet ratio. Just for the record, Pepsi is crap. Coca-Cola is king.

It was always flat 7Up for us.
Even in Burma/Myanmar, our trusty guide was able to find us a 6-pack of 7Up when we food-poisoned ourselves in Mandalay, either from eating bad shrimp or drinking a crushed sugar cane drink. (We skipped the ice, but couldn’t do anything about flies swarming the press.)
Between the 7Up and the Imodium, we were able to resume our travels within 24 hours, with relapses each night when the Imodium wore off.

With some people the bubbles will make them feel bloated as well as ill with whatever they have. I will drink full sugar coke only if there is no alternative.

We were always told to drink flat Ginger Ale, in fact I still do, most recently with the flu I had about a month ago.
I do hope you feel better soon Cheery.

The bubbles would make us burp, which provided a bit of relief when nauseous.

I feel heaps better this aternoon thank you. I managed some dry crackers this morning and all is stable The fever has gone and I'm just left really tired and with sore muscles. This morning I took the dog for a little walk just to get some fresh air, but aside from that I've not done much today.
