Things like that frighten me a bit when you see how one name can dominate an entire continent.
This said, Emma has been the #1 girl's name in France for the last decade. Lucas has been #1 for boys for about the last 3 years.

Well, remember that the parents of babies are often young people, so maybe more likely to fall under the sway of whatever is popular at the time. Wasn't it during the time of the tv show 'Dallas' that the name Crystal became popular? There are many Bonnies in my age group. My mother says that's because girls of her generation were under the spell of Gone With tthe Wind. Urg. Naming a kid after a fictional character whose claim to fame was dying in childhood doesn't seem like such a hot idea.
