Photoquai is an outdoor photo exhibition that takes place every two years. This is only the 4th edition, so it can not yet be called a Paris tradition, but big outdoor photo displays seem to be more and more common, so this looks like it is here to stay. This year's edition presents the work of 40 non European photographers on the general theme of "human life." There are lots of cityscapes and landscapes among the photos, but always with an element of human interaction. One of the best things about such a presentation is obviously that it is free, there is no queueing to get in, and you can actually visit it 24 hours a day.

At last! I've been trying to see this thread since yesterday, but my bad internet connection thwarted me.
Boy, was it worth the wait! The exhibition is out of this world. I love big outdoor photo displays, but every one I've ever seen was on a single theme, plus most of them were old-timey pictures. The Photoquai is just the highest level of bringing art to the public.
I love your photos, too. You've faithfully brought some of the pictures to us, but also let us see how they looked in the space. I particularly like the one below the caption about the gardens of the Musée du Quai Branly.
What a wonderful mix of work. This is a real treat --- thanks!

Most excellent! You wait in line for hours to go inside and see street art and walk right up to an excellent fine art exhibit in the street? What is the world coming to? ;D

I know -- nothing is fair anymore. The roles have been reversed.

Photoquai is back this year for its 5th edition (yes, I missed the first three editions), and the theme is We Are Family, covering both blood relatives and lifestyle families. I found a lot of the photos to be remarkably similar to the photos from last time, but that's fine with me.

Plenty more information at the Photoquai website -- and many more photos to see as well.

Such a brilliant concept and some wonderful photos.
I loved the outdoor pool table and the one of the two women, one with a spear and the other with a cigarette, both imbbeded in nasturtiums is so surreal.
Lots of others that I would love to see more close up.
Cool report.

Oh yaaay ~ I'm excited to see the most recent exhibition, even though it's really frustrating as I have to get ready to leave right now and can't peruse it with the attention it deserves. I'll be back!

I went to one of those Photoquai exhibitions a few years ago -- it must have been the 2011 edition. I agree it's great because there are never a ton of people and since the prints are so big you can really admire all the details.

Super photos Kerouac. I see it has rained - so what are the actual photos on? Some plastic or polythene ?
