Kerouac, you wrote: "this little trip allowed me to check out a hotel just off Oxford Street with a rate of £39 -- a pretty extraordinary deal for central London. It was very cute, spotlessly clean, cleverly decorated and for that rate, the room came with en suite shower and toilet, flat screen TV and refrigerator, as well as free wi-fi".
I was impressed by the photos you took of the interior and wondered if you would be so kind as to give us the name.? I am heading to London this year and have decided to go the hotel route instead of an apartment.....or maybe both.

Lugg, look into the Princess Hotel, just south of St. Pancras. My £40 basic single comes with (full English) breakfast, and per tripadvisor it's not half bad. I'll be there for a few nights by myself. I wish I could claim to be too princess-y for such a place, but when it's just me I'd just as soon rough it and save the money for theater tickets.

I stayed at the Megaro across from St. Pancras (other side if the connecting underground tunnel). Not quite as cheap as others, but was clean and convenient.

I'll be at the Ibis Euston tomorrow. I've stayed there once before and liked it. I would prefer the rate of the Lincoln House, but this is more convenient to Saint Pancras, and also I have an Accor card which builds up points for free stays at any of the Accor properties.

So! You are going to sleep in (maybe) my bed tonight!!!! Ha Ha! I like that hotel because you can sneak in the 'back gate' and enter Euston station that way. Usually staff standing outside having a fag. Can't wait to find out what you are up to this time...... ;D

If you recall the little fun fair and market set up in Leicester Square (reply #7 on this thread), here is the price that Leicester Square paid for it.
