The flu epidemic is finally waning in France, but they say it killed 4000 people anyway.

Oh, that's the totally incapacitating kind where someone must serve you whenever you moan, right?

That’s it. But only for 48 hours. After that you’re on your own.

My wife got an injection against the flu. I congratulated her saying it was indeed a very important precaution for old people Ones. Strangely she didn't look that happy. Maybe the girls should not have laughed so hard. I just got a cold and am getting over it.

I have still not used my free flu vaccine coupon. Now I receive one every year due to my advanced age, and I'll probably finally do it one day, especially since you can get the injection done directly at most pharmacies now instead of having to go to the doctor.

How are you feeling now? It's been @seven years since I had a flu as bad as you describe and it really was hell.

There is a huge gastroenteritis epidemic in France right now. My son caught it mildly and when he went to the drugstore to get the medicine prescribed by the doctor, they were all out of whatever it was because of demand.

Oh my Kerouac! Hopefully you are through the worst stages of it. I remember you posting that it was approaching your area.
I am just starting to feel better from a 3 day headache, nothing would relieve it. I am so happy to be sitting up today.

Whatagain, isn't your wife a doctor or other medical professional? Such people are supposed to get flu jabs whatever their age.
Remember, Acetaminophen is usually called paracetamol in Europe. It is commonly available, as is Ibuprofen.

How are you feeling now? It's been @seven years since I had a flu as bad as you describe and it really was hell. I am starting to return to normal but I think it will be another day or two. The aches and pains are gone but I am still feeling feeble.

Glad to hear it and glad to see that you're able to post. Have you been able to eat?
What I remember from my really bad flu was wondering if I was going to die, but not really caring. Part of mine was a really incredible headache. Mich, was your headache part of a flu?

Seems like it's Norovirus in France. I had that a couple years ago and it's seriously horrible.

Have you been able to eat? I ate nothing for 48 hours even though nausea was not one of the problems. Still not the least bit hungry but I ate some ramen noodle soup today, which I was unable to finish.

It's a start! I know what you mean about severe lack of appetite in that condition. I would be a dead husk in my apartment by now if it hadn't been for my dogs. Since I'd run out of dog (and human food), I was giving them chewies and couldn't bear their hungry wtf expressions, so I dragged myself to the corner store. Besides dog food, it offered sandwiches and rice pudding. I couldn't eat nearly a normal portion of anything, but it was necessary to confront the issue of sustenance.

Mich, was your headache part of a flu? No, more likely due to my AVM. Although I feel I am still not back to full strength after my bout with the flu that I had for about 3 weeks in December.

Sorry for you. I never had a bad flu yet.
Not keen on starting. Our friend in the Martinique got bitten by a mosquito and got the ' dengue '. He was ill at hospital fir 3 days got better but had relapse the last day we were there. Doesn't seem nice either.

It's funny that after what I suffered a few days ago, the transformation into a standard cold feels wonderful. Sneezing, coughing, runny nose... I don't mind those symptoms at all. But the other thing is still lurking, because even though my bed is piled high with covers, I woke up for a few minutes freezing to death. I would have added another blanket, but I was too cold to get out of bed. I just huddled and fell back to sleep.
