I just got my voucher too; they are also being done at nearby pharmacies. Definitely going. I'm at least borderline anorexic, for the first time in my life. I've never had an eating disorder (only food allergies). I also lost several kilos and dropped at least 2 or 3 jeans sizes. The ones I had are falling off me, and all but a couple are being washed and bundled up to a nearby charity shop. Kept a couple just in case, but I doubt I'll put all the weight I lost on again. Is it not time you went to the doctor lagatta?

There are some interesting and unique birdhouses and you have given me some ideas for a Christmas gift! They do have at least 4 birdhouses placed around their yard currently but some of these look interesting that they would probably enjoy adding.
Growing up, I remember there always being a bird guide book on a side table in our home, it was well used.
I agree with Mick and Bixa Lagatta and am concerned that you have not seen your doctor? I hope that COVID has not prevented you from obtaining an appointment? My father was able to finally have his doctor contact him by phone yesterday, assessed him and prescribed a puffer and antibiotics. I hope you contact your doctor, at least have a physical and blood work?

Yes, Lagatta, what the others said. I remember my former GP telling me that if I ever lose weight rapidly and without trying there is a problem and to go and see him.

One thing that Lagatta needs to do is to get over her sugar phobia. Sugar is pure energy. (Yes, it also has a number of negative sides, but it does provide an immediate boost to the system.)
This is of course relatively unscientific advice, but I will maintain it for the time being.

Mich, good news about your dad being prescribed some relief. The puffer should help him feel more energetic and the antibiotics should wipe out the throat tear and anything related to it.

Just read an article that said loss of appetite and weight loss could be down to a lack of zinc.

I have caught a cold for the first time in 3 or 4 years. I know it might be that other disease, but I see no reason to get tested for such a minor affliction -- runny nose and sneezing are the only symptoms.

The reason is so you don’t infect others.

Everybody I know has already been infected, and I can't really help the other supermarket shoppers because I would have to go there anyway. I started wearing a mask again a week ago. The only other person I know who caught a cold got tested... and it was just a cold.

We had a nasty chest cold in May here in Northern California. It seems like it was doing the rounds.

My sinuses keep draining. It might be hard to keep my mask on.

Kerouac, I'm sorry to hear you are unwell. Join the club with Mr.Tod. He has a terrible case of sinus which has also affected his chest. After seeing this and other sites on YouTube he has made his own Himalayan Salt Inhaler from an empty shampoo bottle. Just made numerous holes in the bottom and a few in the lid, filled a quarter way up with the salt and is breathing through this "device" as often as possible. He says after only a day he can feel a difference.

I am presently laid low by an unpleasant throat infection. Been sat in the chair watching boring TV all morning. Can’t raise the energy to get up and do anything!

Doc has given me a throat spray and Co- codamol.
I just had bread and honey for lunch but could barely get it down. I’m so knackered I’ve pretty much sat in a chair all day.

If you are so tired it might be covid. Fatigue was my main symptom when I had it last year.

I'm hearing a lot of people coughing and blowing their snotty noses on the metro and in the cinema. Sounds like life is back to normal.

That is not good news, even if it is seasonal. At least you did not mention inviting 20 people over for Christmas. Get well soon.

Thank you! There is a gala lunch on Christmas Day that I helped put together. I don't want to miss it.
Just because I feel like whining, I will report that what hurts the worst are the bony plates above my top teeth -- all of it except above the Bugs Bunny teeth. You know how The Joker looks as though his lips are slashed up to his cheekbones? Those two places are what hurt the most. Poor me!

I was a bit off and sneezy/snotty this past week but it probably was what they used to call a "cold". That and limpy from, first, tweaking something from slipping in the mud, and then, bruised foot from stomping on a can for the recycling and something went amiss.

Hope you feel better soon, Bixa, and that you will be able to spend the first Christmas of your new home with friends rather than alone and feeling lousy.

From your mouth keyboard to God's ear!
Thank you, Bjd. Except for a sore throat, I do feel much better than yesterday. The problem with this season are all the people who are contagious but who go out and about, merrily infecting others. I don't want to be one of those.
re: the saying above -- is this common in the NE part of the US? I've only known a couple of people who say it & that's where they were from. It has somewhat of an old-country charm, as though it was translated from some other language.

Good that you are better Bixa !!
My uncle had to be taken to hospital due to his flu getting worse and put under oxygen. He should be out by Monday.
